For any of you who follow us on instagram you know our love with this Island. Not only is Kandima one of the largest islands in the Maldives, it's also the most reasonable and child friend we've found to date.
Located on the largest island in Dhaalu Atol, Kandima has the longest outdoor swimming pool in the Maldives, an abundance of water-sports and the largest beach club in the Atoll.
Accessible by a 40 minute sea plane ride from male, or alternatively a 30 minute domestic flight followed by a 20 minute speed boat ride, this island is a perfect escape for travelling families.
Rooms
The resort offers a range of functional accommodation including aqua villas, beach studios , villas with pools or jacuzzis and family suites.
As a family of 5 we always chose the 2 bedroom Family Sky Suites with direct beach access. For smaller families the beach pool villas are the best option.
The rooms are ultra modern and clean with baths and/or tubs, incredible views and an abundance of high end toiletries.
Facilities
Kandima has what is probably the largest kids' club, Kandiland, equipped with a pirate ship and large in-ground trampoline. There are art classes, cookery lessons, and a million other things to do.
The dive centre and waterspouts are second to none. The gym is open 24/7 and holds a range of classes.
The state of the art medical centre's doctors, nurses, dentists, x-ray, ECG and ultrasound machines, and a decompression unit
Electric golf buggies are available 24/7 and the island hopper bus runs from 6am to 12 midnight.
Food
Guests can choose among the 10 restaurants and bars Kandima offers. Chinese, steak, Italian and a buffet are a few.
We would recommend the all-inclusive dining option. Please note the 24 hour room service is not included in the all inclusive package

Kandima is by far the most child friendly resort in the Maldives and as an agent one of the popular and most requested among families. The relaxed beach club vibe gives the resort a sense of our escapism.
From the moment you arrive you're made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The kids club staff are incredible and will also double up as baby sitters on an evening. This resort is allergy safe! I suffer from a nut allergy and it was no issue for the chef to cook my food separately each evening while the kids tucked into the buffet.
One of the attractions to the island as a parent is the fully equipped on site medical centre with doctors on hand 24/7
We give Kandima a 10/10 for child friendliness, value for money and facilities.
MUM SAYS ....
Hire a set of family bikes as soon as you arrive on the island. They're on a first come, come served basis and get booked out quickly.
Kids laundry is free.... use it!
Take the all-inclusive dining option. It gives you access to any product in any of the delis and trust me, 3 kids, 3 ice creams each a day, snacks and drinks, it will save you ££££££
Pack mosquito spray and your buckets and spades. The islands shop prices are extortionate.
Take advantage of the free family photoshoot they offer.
