Hawaii

Hawaii is a state of the United States of America located 6 hours flight time away from Los Angeles, in the Pacific Ocean.It is the only U.S state located outside of North America and the only island state. Made up of eight main islands, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island being most popular with tourists. Did you know more than a third of the worlds supply of pineapples come from Hawaii?

A lei flower is often used in celebrations and there are certain rules that are associated with it, starting with the fact that is it considered rude to refuse or remove it in front of the person who gave you it.You may recognise the island from many movies shot here including Jurassic park and Jurassic World, 50 first dates, Godzilla, Tropic Thunder and You me and Dupree.

As with the USA mainland you will need to fill out an ESTA form online ,which needs to be approved before travelling to Hawaii.

How to get there

Hawaii is a 5 hour 50 min flight from Los Angeles. You can get there with American Airlines, United, Alaska Airways and Hawaiian (this is your cheapest option at £170 per person).

We recommend flying to Los Angeles and then island hopping

Best time to travel

The best months to visit are April, May, September and October for great weather, fewer crowds, and cheapest hotel rates. 

Average temperatures

Temperatures range from 26 degrees to 31 degrees all year round, with hot summers, June to October and pleasant winters, December to March.

Home to the Disney Resort, Aulani, Hawaii is a great destination for families.  OAHU is ideal for families seeking sun and fun on the beach as well as modern city- style amenities. MAUI, is perfect for touristy funned remote adventures. KAUAI is the top choice for the great outdoors, with perfect beaches and lush tropical jungles. BIG ISLAND is more geared towards the older children a sit offers a mix of educational and culture.

Note there is an active volcano on the Big Island, it could erupt and seriously affect your travel plans.

Typical itinerary: 

Day 1 - Hire a car in Maui


Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii, famous for its beauty, famous beaches, humpback whales and turtles Drive the road to Hana. It's a long drive through narrow roads but it's definitely an adventure. The black sand beaches that await you are really something else.




Day 2 - Sail to Molokini


Molokini is an island reserve made up from one of the vents from the main volcano on maui. This 3/4 hour boat excursion is a must




Day 3 - Watch a traditional Lu Au


You can't visit Hawaii without taking in a Traditional show. Food , Fire and a spectacular show. Most hotels host Lu Au 3/4 times a week. Book early to avoid disappointment.




Day 4 - Swim with turtles, surf, paddleboard


Hawaii has some of the best surf and sea life in the world .. Just watch out for the sharks!!!! Catch the world's most beautiful sunsets each evening from the beach




Day 5 - Catch the ferry to Lanai


The Maui - Lanai Expeditions passenger ferry departs 5x a day. The ferry costs $30 for adults and $20 for children and takes 1 hour Lanai is the smallest of Hawaii's inhabited islands. Try a bit of 4x4 off-roading or ride into the sunset on a horseback adventure. The island is also home to the countries largest cat sanctuary, housing over 600 of the furry friends




Day 6 - Island Hop over to Ohau and take in a few days at Disney Aluani


Not your typical Disney resort, Aluani features a waterpark, Character meets, LuAu performances and firepit stories. Moanna themed, a trip to the bibbity bobbity boutique is a dream come true for any little disney fan.
